Job Details:

Responsibilities:

• Perform rail car maneuvering, inspections and pre-tripping operations to AAR, FRA guidelines and company safety standards
• Measure distance between railcar junctions to AAR standards
• Operate manual track switches, apply hand brakes to rail cars and clean rail car decks
• Observe and ensure tracks are clear of obstructions
• Daily bleeding of air from yard air compressor
• Read and interpret destinations on track sheet and build train to destinations
• Lubricate moving mechanisms and stenciling
• Inspect tracks for serviceability and report any defects to the supervisor
• Maintain records of all rail cars inspected and pre-tripped and turn in any records to rail clerk for processing and storage
• Ensure radios, safety tools, and equipment are being utilized in the correct manner
• Drive company vehicle
• Maintain equipment, tools, and vehicle in good working standard
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

• 1+ years of related rail maintenance experience is preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Valid state Driver’s License required
• Work in various weather and temperature conditions
• Engage in frequent walking, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, climbing, and lifting
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to work alone and in team setting
